SANY autonomous road machine fleet performs cement-treated paving and compacting
19/01/2021
On December 4th, a fleet of SANY autonomous road machines, which consisted of two pavers, two single-drum rollers, two tire rollers and one double-drum roller, conducted a coordinated operation demonstration of cement-treated paving and compacting on the main road leading to Xiong’an New Area. The area is a part of the newly named China (Hebei) Pilot Free Trade Zone, where construction work is in high demand.

A mobile base station and a control room placed within a short distance enabled remote controlled operation of the seven units. All vehicle operations were automated, with working parameters being set in advance, such as route, paving speed, rolling speed, rolling times and lap width.
Equipped with a 3D leveler and an infrared temperature monitor, the pavers continuously monitor the paving thickness and temperature in real time. The new automated leveling system avoids manual tasks, such as the use of string lines, stakes and averaging beams, which can cause errors.

Witnessed by government officials and industry authorities from across the nation, the event showcased the capability of SANY road machinery and indicated the significant role SANY will play in building the ‘city of the future’.  According to the expert on site, the operation conducted by the fleet of SANY unmanned road machines met the standards for smoothness, compactness and segregation control.

This style of intelligent, autonomous coordinated multi-machine paving operation outperforms the traditional way in terms of efficiency and precision and therefore marks a milestone for the development of road construction and pavement technologies.
